Headquarters: Union, New Jersey

Bed Bath & Beyond is headquartered in Union, New Jersey. If you’re not familiar with the city of Union, here are some basics:

  • Union is a city in Union County, New Jersey. It’s the county seat, and according to the United States Census Bureau it had a population of 57,323 as of 2017 (though this figure includes both people who live inside the city limits and those who live just outside). That makes it larger than any other municipality except for Newark—the state’s largest city—and Paterson—its third largest.
  • It’s also one of four major cities within its home county; others include Elizabeth (population 94,419) and Rahway (population 28,479), though neither has nearly as many residents as big cities like Newark or Jersey City do on their own.
  • Finally: You may have heard that Bed Bath & Beyond has headquarters there because it’s mentioned whenever anyone talks about how close they live to New York City—which isn’t too far away from Union at only eight miles away from Manhattan via train service from neighboring Hoboken Terminal station!

Year founded: 1971, as Bed ‘n Bath

Bed Bath & Beyond was founded in 1971, when Warren Eisenberg and Leonard Feinstein opened a store called Bed ‘n Bath. The store sold furniture and home goods. They eventually changed the name of their company to Bed Bath & Beyond because they wanted to sell more than just beds and baths.

Number of stores: 1,050 in the US, Canada, and Mexico

In the US, Canada and Mexico, Bed Bath & Beyond has 1,050 stores.

Number of employees: 60,000 employees

Bath and Beyond has 60,000 employees. This number is divided into different departments. There are many different jobs at Bath & Beyond that you can apply for, but the most common are in customer service or sales. The company hires thousands of people every year because it is always growing and opening new stores across America.

Revenue in 2017: $10.9 billion

  • 2017: $10.9 billion
  • 2018: $11.1 billion
  • 2019: $11.3 billion
  • 2020: $11.5 billion
  • 2021: $11.7 billion

The company’s revenue has been increasing since 2013, with an average annual growth rate of approximately 2% over the past five years (excluding its acquisition of Williams-Sonoma).

The company also maintains a strong net profit margin that has averaged approximately 12% over the last three fiscal years (excluding WSM’s contribution).

Products sold in store and online: home goods including kitchen items, bedding, bathroom products, furniture, housewares and more

Home goods are a big part of the business model. Bed, bath and beyond sells many home goods including kitchen items, bedding, bathroom products and more. Furniture is also sold in the store. Housewares can be purchased online or in one of their 900+ stores across the United States.

Promotions and coupons (see our list of Bed Bath & Beyond coupons)

Bed Bath & Beyond has a great coupon program that offers coupons for both online and in-store shopping. In addition to the coupons you find in your mailbox or inbox, you can also use Bed Bath & Beyond’s app to access even more coupons.

If you’re a member of the rewards program (which is free!), all of your discounts will be combined when making purchases at Bed Bath & Beyond. This means that if one item is on sale and another isn’t, you’ll get both discounts combined into one price total!

Price matching policy (see our guide on how to use a Bed Bath & Beyond coupon online)

Bed Bath & Beyond’s price matching policy is simple and straightforward. If you find a lower price at a local store, or online, they will match the price as long as it’s within 14 days of your purchase.

For online purchases, call 1-800-462-3966 or email webmgr@bedbathandbeyond.com with the following information: name, date of purchase and item number (if applicable), competitor’s ad/website link (if applicable), and the reason why you think the product is priced lower than BBB.

For in-store purchases, present an ad from that same competitor in your area with proof of purchase from that store showing that their prices are lower than BBB within 14 days of your purchase to receive price adjustment credit on any item(s) purchased from BBB during this time period.*

Online shopping app (download the Bed Bath & Beyond app)

Download the free Bed Bath & Beyond app to your smartphone or tablet.

In the app, click on “My List” at the bottom of the screen to add items you’d like to purchase.

To check out, enter your zip code and click “Find Store” on the main menu of your phone or tablet. Select a store near you from the dropdown menu that appears; this will bring up its address in Google Maps and show you how far away it is from where you are currently located. When prompted by Google Maps, click through any driving directions until they take you directly into the parking lot of this specific Bed Bath & Beyond location!

I learned about the size and scale of Bed Bath & Beyond

At the time, I knew little about Bed Bath & Beyond beyond its name. I had not yet been to a store or shopped online. My understanding was that it was a home goods retailer. This is not inaccurate, but it’s also not the whole story.

To be more accurate, Bed Bath & Beyond is a public company with stores that sell household goods—things like towels and soap dishes—to customers at prices set by its suppliers (who are mostly other large companies). The company has grown to include over 1,600 locations in all 50 states across the country through acquisitions of smaller retailers like Linens ‘n Things and Cost Plus World Market, as well as its own expansion efforts.

Conclusion

Bed Bath & Beyond is a company with a long history and an impressive track record. It was founded by Warren Eisenberg and Leonard Feinstein in 1971 as Bed ‘n Bath, a small New Jersey-based chain of women’s clothes stores. Over the next decade, the company grew slowly but steadily until it began acquiring independent shops in other states. By 1982, Bed ‘n Bath had become the largest home fashions retailer in America with over 500 stores across the country. The 1990s saw even more growth for BBB as it consolidated its position in the U.S. market by purchasing competitors like Linens ‘N Things and operating under their brand names until those brands were discontinued entirely in 2008 due to financial troubles faced by both companies at that time
