Activision Blizzard is a video game company that was founded in 2008 and has since grown to be one of the largest gaming companies in the world. Their success has been driven by strong brands, such as Overwatch and Call of Duty, which have over 100 million players each. The company also has a number of mobile games that are extremely popular among users who want something more casual than full-length console games

Introduction to Activision Blizzard

Activision Blizzard is a video game publisher, developer, distributor and retailer. Activision Blizzard has four main business segments: Consumer Products & Interactive Media (CP&IM), Activision Publishing Inc., Blizzard Entertainment Inc. and King Digital Entertainment Plc.

CP&IM makes up about 40% of the company’s revenue and includes products such as Skylanders and Call of Duty. Activision Publishing develops games like Destiny 2, Overwatch and World of Warcraft. Blizzard Entertainment develops games like Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, Diablo III: Reaper of Souls – Ultimate Evil Edition and StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void — all available on Battle.net

Overwatch

Overwatch is a first-person shooter developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment. It was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in May 2016, with a port for the Nintendo Switch released in November 2018. Overwatch assigns players into two teams of six, with each player selecting from a roster of over 20 characters, known as “heroes”, each with a unique style of play whose roles are divided into four general categories: Offense (boosting strategic power), Defense (decreasing damage taken by teammates), Tank (healing teammates or shielding them from damage), Support (resurrecting dead allies and providing healing).

Call of Duty

Call of Duty is a first person shooter game. It has been available since 2003, with its latest version being released in 2018. Call of Duty is one of Activision Blizzard’s most popular games and it has a lot of fans around the world. The game is especially popular in the United States, where it ranks as the second highest grossing video game franchise in history behind Grand Theft Auto.

WarCraft

WarCraft is a real-time strategy game set in the world of Azeroth. The series has been around since 1994, when Warcraft: Orcs & Humans was released. Since then, Blizzard Entertainment has released four additional entries in the WarCraft franchise: Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness (1995), Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos (2002), World of Warcraft (2004) and StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty (2010).

WarCraft is one of Blizzard’s most popular franchises, with over 100 million players worldwide playing some iteration of it at any given time—and that’s just counting people who have played one entry in the series!

Hearthstone

  • Hearthstone is a free-to-play digital collectible card game. It’s available on PC, Mac, iOS and Android. It was released in 2014 and is one of the most popular free-to-play games.
  • You can play Hearthstone for free by just logging into your Battle.net account and selecting the “Play” button on the Hearthstone home page.
  • Players can build their own decks by buying cards with gold earned from completing daily quests or winning matches against other players online. Cards are also awarded to players when they level up or complete certain achievements (such as winning 10 games in any format).

Heroes of the Storm

Heroes of the Storm is a MOBA game that comes with a free-to-play model. It’s a multiplayer online battle arena where you can play as a team against other teams. Unlike its competitors, Heroes offers more than just the standard map and objective gameplay found in most MOBAs—you can also choose from over 70 heroes that each have their own unique abilities and skill sets.

StarCraft II

StarCraft II is a real-time strategy game that was released in 2010. It’s the sequel to StarCraft and is published by Activision Blizzard, which owns Blizzard Entertainment, the company that developed both games. StarCraft II remains one of the best-selling real-time strategy games of all time with more than 11 million copies sold (as of October 2018).

As you can see from this brief summary, Activision Blizzard has its hands in many different pies—but they are all connected by their focus on gaming entertainment. The company develops some of the world’s most recognizable video games titles like Call of Duty and Overwatch while also managing some noteworthy professional gaming leagues like Major League Gaming (MLG) and Heroes Global Championship (HGC).

Candy Crush Saga

Candy Crush Saga is a free-to-play puzzle video game developed by King. The game is the third instalment in the Candy Crush series and was first released on Facebook in October 2012, before being ported to mobile devices in April 2013. As of December 2018, the game has been downloaded more than 500 million times across both Android and iOS smartphones, making it one of the most popular mobile games ever created.[1]

The gameplay involves matching candies in order to clear them from the board; this can be achieved by swapping two adjacent candies vertically or horizontally using another candy as an intermediary if needed. When three or more like-coloured candies are matched together they are removed from play along with any additional connected matches above them within a predetermined distance (usually three). If there is no more room for matches then all players lose turns until there is space again for new moves.[2]

Call of Duty Mobile

Call of Duty Mobile is a mobile version of the popular Call of Duty video game. It’s a first-person shooter game, meaning that you play from the perspective of one character who sees whatever he or she points their gun at on-screen as if looking through the barrel themselves.

Call of Duty Mobile was released in 2018 by Activision Blizzard to capitalize on their existing brand, which has been around since 2003. The franchise has sold over 250 million copies worldwide, making it one of the most successful video game franchises ever made.

Activision Blizzard has had an incredible amount of success in the past few years.

Activision Blizzard is a global leader in interactive entertainment. It develops and distributes content for its two primary business units: Activision Publishing and Blizzard Entertainment. Activision Publishing, which includes the company’s wholly owned subsidiaries Activision, Inc., Blue Sky Studios, Inc., FreeStyleGames Ltd., High Moon Studios and Infinity Ward, develops and publishes interactive entertainment software products on console systems such as Xbox One™ and PlayStation®4. The company also publishes content for mobile platforms such as smart phones, tablets and other devices using Apple’s iOS or Google’s Android operating system.

Blizzard Entertainment was founded in 1991 by Michael Morhaime. Best known for its core franchises World of Warcraft®, Diablo®, Hearthstone®: Heroes of Warcraft™, StarCraft®, the Warcraft®, StarCraft® II: Wings of Liberty™ and StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm™ games as well as many other titles including Heroes of the Storm™ (Heroes), Overwatch™ (Overwatch), in-game service Battle.net®.*

Conclusion

Activision Blizzard has had an incredible amount of success in the past few years. Their games are some of the most popular titles in their respective genres, and they know how to monetize them. The company is on a roll with each new release bringing in more revenue than expected.
